The Primary with PE Programme | Manchester Nexus SCITT

Primary General with PE

Are you ready to challenge yourself?

Do you want to make a difference to the lives of primary-ages pupils?

Do you have a clear aptitude for sport and believe in its potential to improve pupils’ achievement throughout the curriculum?

Could you inspire them to enjoy and connect with a range of interesting subjects including English, maths, science, humanities and the arts?

Manchester Nexus believes in the power of sport to develop confidence in young people, both academically and socially.

We are looking for talented primary applicants with an aptitude for sport, and ideally prior experience of engaging young people through PE.

Our course will provide you with all the elements covered by our Primary General route so that you will be confident teaching across the primary curriculum. But you will also take part in additional, enhanced PE training.

The P.E enhancement route will offer the same training as Primary  General, however, there will be a focus on gaining greater experience in the planning and delivering of Physical Education. As well as the standard entry requirements (which are listed below) you will need to evidence your current commitment to sport and physical fitness during the interview (by answering relevant questions).

A GCSE pass at Grade C (or level 4) or higher in English, Maths and Science.

Equivalency tests may be accepted at the discretion of the SCITT.

Trainees will be graduates with a 2.2 or above in their degree. In some instances, a 3rd may be be accepted.

Applicants who have not yet graduated will be expected to provide evidence of their expected degree classification.

School Centred Initial Teacher TrainingThe Nexus Way

A career in Primary Teaching is incredibly rewarding; you get to work with children when they are at their most inquisitive and open minded. As well as having lots of fun, you have the honour and responsibility to set the young people in your care on a learning path which will determine their life chances later in life. To be the best, you will need to rise to that challenge.
